Pool Openings

OUR STANDARD POOL OPENING INCLUDES:

Removal of your winter cover, air pillows and water tubes
Washing, drying and folding winter cover and then storing cover in your shed or garage, if requested
Cleaning your pool and/or cover for approximately 25-30 minutes (cleaning refers to vacuuming, skimming,
scooping or brushing). If you do not remove cover debris before pool opening, time spent on removing cover
debris will be deducted from total cleaning time. All vacuuming is done with our Power Vacs.
Balancing pH and adding shock, algaecide and clarifier to water
Hooking up above ground filter system. The need for filter media (such as sand, DE or cartridge) or new
hoses (if needed) is additional.
Brushing all sidewalls and bottom of pool (this step may turn the water cloudy; proper filtration, circulation
and, if necessary, additional shock treatments will be essential for restoring pool water to a clear state)
Brushing water line with vinyl cleaner (stains may be impossible to remove)

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:

Removal of ALL DEBRIS and WATER on cover top BEFORE we arrive. If all debris is removed from cover,
entire 25-30 minutes of cleaning will be dedicated to pool interior. If water is not removed from cover, water
will be emptied into pool water. This may cause water to turn cloudy and/or green.
Filling pool to normal water level PRIOR to opening (plug skimmer/return, test filter)
Cost of filter media (sand, DE or cartridge)
Removal of debris from skimmer and pump baskets as debris accumulates AFTER we complete opening
Continuing to vacuum debris as needed AFTER we complete opening
After opening has been completed, it is imperative that you run your filter for at least 48 hours or until water
is clear. Your water clarity is not only dependent on our opening procedures but also on the circulation and
filtration of water. Multiple shock treatments may be needed. As a general guideline, shock every single
day—as long as you see improvement—until water is crystal clear (refer to Shock Treatment Guidelines
below). AS NEEDED, BE SURE TO BACKWASH SAND FILTER, REPLENISH DE IN AN EARTH FILTER
OR CLEAN CARTRIDGE IN A CARTRIDGE FILTER.
Depending on your sanitation system, start adding your normal sanitizing products the day after pool opening

SHOCK TREATMENT GUIDELINES
Hazy Water 1 lb. or 1 gallon shock per 10,000 gallons
Breakpoint Chlorination 2 lbs. or 2 gallons shock per 10,000 gallons
Visible Algae Present 3 lbs. or 3 gallons shock per 10,000 gallons

We Recommend Winter Closings Be Booked By August 15
