Spa Water Chemistry Tips

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TEST YOUR SPA WATER?

After adding make-up water (filter for at least 1 hour to mix the old
water with the new water)
After spa water has circulated for at least 1 hour
After spa water has heated
After taking a sample from at least 18-inches below the spa surface
and away from the cartridge
Before adding water chemistry products
Before adding a shock treatment
When chlorine or bromine level is below 4 ppm
As soon as it is removed from your spa—water chemistry begins to
deteriorate
immediately!

ALKALINITY
IS THE
KEY
TO
WATER
BALANCE!

*****
BALANCED WATERClear pool or spa water is not necessarily sanitized or balanced. After all, the water in your toilet bowl is clear, but not sanitized or balanced! Balanced water prolongs the life of your pool and spa equipment and ensures healthy swimming.

ARE YOU HAVING A HARD TIME CLEARING YOUR SPA WATER?

The majority of spa water chemistry problems are related to dirty cartridges and not enough shock treatments. Make sure that you chemically clean your cartridge at least once per month and you shock your spa water after each and every use.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOUR SPA BE DRAINED?

Use this formula to determine how often your spa should be drained:

____________________ =
NUMBER OF DAYS
BETWEEN DRAININGS

________________÷
SPA CAPACITY
(in gallons)

3 ÷
____________________
MAXIMUM NUMBER
OF DAILY BATHERS
